monday, hanging day

Today was the day the Tour de France came to town, and the day we hung the R.K.Burt exhibition.

two past presidents of the SGFA Jean Canter and Jo Hall

Claire Sparkes and Jackie Devereux president of the SGFA

It was such a nice day and we received some beautiful work !   It was nice to see lots of our members and by the animated conversations going on you can agree that all of us thought the same.

I will do some more pictures tomorrow, I even did a picture of my favourite building, altogether it was a brilliant day, the SGFA can be very proud of its members !

Sunday quiet day, more prints

Today it was a quiet day, my friend Rosina is going to stay with her son so I won't see her for a bit, I enjoy going to the garden centre with her.
But I cleaned the house, and drew a new lithographic print, well two.  I drew the blue tits on the bottle brush, and a couple of rather strange birds.

And then there were some more stars from the garden.

this one was given to me by Renate lovely.

The garden does look amazing at the moment full of different greens and flashes of colour.

saturday , Wakehurst Place

Today I went to Wakehurst Place, a National Trust/Kew Gardens property and garden, and got stuck at the entrance. It was a rather iffy situation , I had to wait for a ticket to appear and when it finally did the barrier would not open !  A very nice lady came and let me in, fortunately , or rather very unfortunately, there were very few cars and they used the other barrier.

Oh dear, I would a Kew garden season ticket because paying £10 for a day in parking fees is not what I want.
I like all the other places around here but I love Kew, Wakehurst, I love drawing there in the summer.

So future blogs will be full of birch trees from the birch wood at Wakehurst.

And this is a lithographic print I drew there

As the sun was out just now I took some images of my front garden, some lovely crocosmia called Lucifer I think. Some flowering hebe,  and a lovely eucalyptus with very small leaves.

I also went to Standen and gave them some more town trail leaflets, so glad they loved the quilt !

Friday , very sunny , very hot !

Lots of good work was done in the morning but I didn't take any pictures, I will next week !
But I did take some pictures of my blue tits, There are such a lot of them, nice colours the bright red of the bottle brush and the small blue/yellow birds.

Later in the afternoon I spend some time in the bookshop, Jean came too and drew some lovely cats and a plant, thanks Jean.

2 very nice ladies who were doing the Arts Trail came and looked at the sketchbook and one of them, Lynn Green, did some very nice drawings of a small black and white dog, she was an artist herself, it was a very nice afternoon.

Its still warm but rain is on its way !

thursday , beautiful weather, nice images

What a lovely day, apart from sitting in the garage waiting for my air con to be filled up.
But its nice and cold in the car, wonderful.

Paddy cut out her dancer.

And every body did some nice work today, Jean did some Japanese seasons with Matisse in mind.

Bernadette is cutting out all the bits for her lovely picture.

Jenny has finally sorted out Jack and the bean stalk, and Pam has put the string on her books.

wednesday, an owl and some dolphins

Nice morning with some excellent work, and the sun is shining.
Carolyn did the owl and Anne the dolphins.

Sandra did the abstract trees and Gill did the shapes, all good stuff. We are nearing the end of the Matisse project we have all learned that less is definitely more, that the negative shapes are as important as the main components , and that complimentary colours are the most incredible important part of an image.

More later.

Ist July warmish

My dear friend Stella came and saw us at the scout house, she brought some lovely drawings. It was very nice to see her again, we showed her all the stuff we had been doing.

I also found Shirley's picture which she left behind last week, its lovely !

And of course there is the bottle brush, best flowering year yet !

Thank you Ruth for the lovely cherries !!!

The pictures were taken on my iPhone not the usually brilliant Lumix standard, its the Zeiss lens.
